Grooms, Are You Ready For Some Football?

The moment many men have been waiting for is about to kick off -- football season is here! If you have a wedding planned between NFL pre-season games (the first four as scheduled for August 8th) through the Super Bowl at Meadowland Stadium in New Jersey (February 2, 2014) you really should make a plan on how to comingle your love for the two. With hopes set on elegant chandeliers, classical music and rose-covered trellises to walk under (not goal posts), most brides are going to give their grooms a thumbs down on a gridiron-inspired wedding ceremony.

Millions of Wedding Guests Who Love Football

Guys, do you think more people attend weddings or professional football games? It’s the trivia question of the day! Let’s look at weddings first. According to various sources including the Bridal Association of America’s Wedding Report and the Wedding Market Database the wedding industry continues to grow at a fast rate. Data obtained from these sources show that there are 2.4 million weddings per year in the United States and the average number of guests per wedding is 173. If you do the math, this is an incredibly large number of annual wedding guests – more than 400 million! And, with only around 316 million US citizens currently alive according to the US Census Bureau’s population clock, it means some of us are going to more than one wedding a year. I feel sort of left out because I didn’t get invited to a single wedding during the last 12 months!

ThereÍs a Groomsmen Gift for Every Game

Usually an eclectic bunch, a guy’s posse of groomsmen is a collection of great friends made in a variety of different places. You may go way back to childhood with some of the guys and share memories like learning how to ride bikes and playing on the same Little League team. Some of your other groomsmen may come from a college fraternity, sports league or from your first real job after graduation. Don’t forget about those groomsmen you are closest to; we’re talking about brothers and cousins, if you have them! Sometimes the bride will even have a male relative that she wants to join you entourage. For the sake of the future marriage, embrace the newest addition to your line-up. Who knows, you may end up being life-long buddies.

How To Pack More Football In Your Wedding

Football season is gearing up - how about your wedding plans? If you have a wedding planned between NFL pre-season (August 8th) through the Super Bowl (February 9, 2011) you really should consider how to marry your love for the two! While the bride is not likely to give you're the gridiron-inspired wedding reception that you've been dreaming of (yeah, right), but she may throw you a pass to show off your love of the sport with a football-inspired groom's cake. If she's a real keeper, the bride might even go for picking her "wedding colors" to coordinate with the uniform tones of your favorite team. How about aqua blue and orange a la Miami Dolphins - nice!

The Tennis Match That Would Never End

Posted on Jul 01, 2010. 0 comments

The Tennis Match That Would Never EndIf youÍve ever played tennis, you may have finished a match in less than an hour, four hours or, more likely, somewhere in between. It really just depends on how quickly you knock out the match set and how good (or bad) the competition is. My neck is sore just remembering, but a recent Wimbledon match logged an 11 hour and 5 minute match that was played out over three days! American John Isner battled it out over the long haul with Nicolas Mahut, to win in the 5th set _ score, 70-68. Isner was able to backhand the ball just a hair out of the reach of the Frenchman, Mahut. Both dropped to the ground in exhaustion, the crowd roared and, I imagine, also began massaging the cricks out of each others necks!

Get a Kick Out of the Groom's Cake

Posted on Jun 04, 2010. 0 comments

Get a Kick Out of the GroomOffering a groomÍs cake at your wedding is not a requirement for a good marriage, but certainly a tasteful way to get it off on a good start. The groomÍs cake is a way for the man to get his way (for once) in the wedding planning process. Not to stereo.type, but the brideÍs cake will probably look like a tall tower of fluffy white frosting and flowers _ not exactly what a guyÍs guy has in mind. 9VABRSQTAAC9

Go Wild - A Fishing Bachelor Party

June, the month filled with the most weddings of the year, is also home to National Fishing and Boating week -- June 5 through 13 in 2010. Just think how genius it would be to combine all these wonderful events into one! Even though you are admittedly a good catch, the bride may not be so big on having the wedding ceremony in a boat with the sea air ruining her hair and makeup. However, your groomsmen and buddies are sure to be up for a bachelor party filled with fishing, friendship and a cooler full of beer.
